But....it gets even better! Word is quickly spreading about our great football team, our awesome marching band / dance team / color guard, the energetic cheerleaders and the loud / supportive fans.....
We were just notified by WESH that they already selected the Lyman / Oviedo game as the "Showdown of the Week" both on WESH 2 News and online at HighSchoolPlaybook.com! Guy Rawling, WESH Sports Director, will be live at Lyman on Friday night during the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts! There will also be highlights and other features from the game on the 11 p.m. newscast as well as videos, pictures and more online at HighSchoolPlaybook.com.
So make sure you have those Lyman Marching Greyhound shirts ready to go on Friday night! Make some signs, get loud, and lets show Central Florida what Lyman is all about!
*** Additional note to those auditioning for All-State on Saturday - you're not allowed to yell during the game...save your energy for Saturday. Also, please note that the schedule for Saturday has been updated: http://www.lymanband.com/Documents/AS0920.pdf

- Despite the long drive and the uncooperative weather, we had a very strong showing of band parents at our first field show performance at Timber Creek. We'd like to thank all of you, and especially our Marching Greyhound volunteers, for all of their.support last night. We also would like to acknowledge Mr. Jack Bloomingdale, Lyman's Asst. Athletic Director, for his energetic introduction of the band during the half-time show. Awesome job Greyhounds!
- We have some photos already posted and encourage you to send yours in to admin@lymanband.com We're fortunate to have several professional photographers covering the band last night and we should be seeing those photos shortly. Also, if you video taped the half-time show, Mr. Muse and Mr. Porter are looking for copies to use on Monday...if you have one, please send in a copy on DVD.
- Next Monday (Sept. 8 at 6:30) is a parent booster meeting. We are scheduled to have a representative from Joe Corbi there to provide some awesome samples from one of our upcoming fundraisers (yummy pizza and cheesy bread). This is also a good time to catch up on band fees, to pick up some cool stickers for your car, to order your copy of our cookbook, and to of course lend a helping hand to the Marching Greyhounds at an upcoming event or project. There are plenty of ways to volunteer with the band...even if your time is limited, we have something you can do to help out.
- Speaking of cookbook orders, Sept 15th is when we finish up accepting recipes...if you haven't submitted one yet, now is the time (email me at admin@lymanband.com). We also need a final count for how many books we'll be publishing. This is a limited edition and we'll only be ordering as many books as we think we'll be able to sell. If you would like one of these (makes a great holiday gift), please get your reservation in ASAP (only $13 each). If you order one by the booster meeting, you'll be in a new drawing for a Darden $10 gift card.
- Our next game will be at Lake Brantley. We'll have our Info Sheet available in the next few days. We're also awaiting some info from the oosters on their marching band so that we can create a profile for them (we received lot's of compliments, including from Timber Creek, on what we put together about them):

As a reminder for band students, Mr. Muse intends to start playing from day 1....please come to school with your instrument and prepared to play. Also, though we didn't have it on the calendar earlier, we now have August 29th, the Kick-Off Classic against Bishop Moore as our premier game performance (at home).
- During the last few years, we've had someone very special who played an important role in organizing our chaperones and in managing the submission of our dividend hours. Aurora Reyes will unfortunately be leaving us for Seminole High School. We thank Aurora for all of her service and wish her, and her son Marcos, all the best! We're extremely fortunate in having Rhonda Asfoor to step in to help out Elena with the coordination of chaperones. They can be reach via chaperone@lymanband.com
- As after school practices startup, remember that you can have car pool requests posted on the website (we have one already). Visit this section at: http://lymanband.com/id36.htm Note, we also like to post parent comments/kudos to our performers on this page...just send them in to me at admin@lymanband.com
- UCF All-State Prep Clinic will be held on August 23, 9:30-4:45. Though free, reservations are required. Details: http://www.music.ucf.edu/camps/allstate.php You can contact John Almeida (hbbja1@mac.com, 407-823-2869) if you have any questions.
- Please keep sending in those special family recipes (admin@lymanband.com). There is no requirement that you buy a book and we'd love to see EVERY Marching Greyhound family represented! As an incentive, we will award a $10 Darden gift card to one random person who submits a recipe between the Pot Luck and August 31st.

Can you believe it...this week is the last Tuesday evening rehearsal before band camp! The summer is flying by and as we prepare for the upcoming band camps, there is lots of information to share.
- But first off - * MEDICAL FORMS * We need a completed medical form prior to the start of band camp! You can download the form here: http://www.lymanband.com/Documents/MedicalTravel2008.pdf There will be a notary at the Tuesday evening rehearsal...please stop by between 6:00 and 8:00pm if you haven't dropped off your form. ( We can also accept fee payments on Tuesday evening.)
- We are sending out (via US mail) a comprehensive summary sheet that highlights everything you'll need to know about the upcoming band camp. We also have a copy loaded up on the website...please take a moment to review it. Please be sure to take note of the Premier Performance and Pot Luck dinner on August 8th. Also, we need some donations for the students during the week - watermelon, grapes, apples, oranges, Fla-Vor-Ice, etc.
- We have some photos from Tuesday evening rehearsals on the website...be sure to check them out here: http://lymanband.com/id18.htm . Also, a big thanks to those parents who have been helping out on Tuesdays, especially with our uniform repairs.
- Our cookbook project is progressing nicely and we're continuing to get some great contributions from not only parents, but also from faculty, local media, and politicians. We'd really like to have everyone represented in this wonderful keepsake, so if you get a chance, email Mike your treasured family recipes (admin@lymanband.com). To help motivate you to get them in ASAP, we have a $25 AppleBee's giftcard that we'll award to one lucky person who contributes a recipe before July 31st.

WATER!!!!!! We are collecting donations of cases on Tuesday evenings.
Kind of boring news, but we're forced to redo all of our fill-in forms on the website. One requirement on some of the new forms is one of those verification boxes (known as Captcha)...this will help us reduce the occurance of SPAM.

Several important updates to pass along....
- A special welcome to all of our new Greyhounds! Thank you for joining us last Tuesday evening and while there was a bit of information overload, rest assured that we have all the information available online and board members and volunteers will be available throughout the Tuesday evening rehearsals to answer any questions that you may have.
- Once again, we'd like to congratulate our graduating seniors and their families. We recognize that you may want to be removed from further emails and you can easily do that by responding to this email with the word "REMOVE" in the subject line. Of course, we'd also like to ask you to provide your contact information for our growing alumni organization under the direction of Vicky Rochford (alumni@lymanband.com). More details here: http://lymanband.com/id46.htm
- We have many new forms ready for the 2008-2009 school year and they are now available on the website. Most important are the forms for your medical and contact info (needs to be notarized) and coupons for payment of fees. As mentioned above, we strongly encourage you to tend to these as soon as possible. Please bring them to any of the Tuesday rehearsals. http://lymanband.com/id19.htm
- We've updated the calendar with the game schedule and travel directions will be added shortly. We'll also have a download version available shortly.
- The band boosters are sponsoring the publishing of a cookbook as a fundraiser! We are looking for each Greyhound family(and Lyman staff) to contribute a favorite recipe or two (collected up through September). We expect to be selling the professionally created books starting at the Pot Luck dinner with delivery before the holidays. Please go here for more details: http://lymanband.com/id54.htm Send in those recipes!
- The Lyman Diamonds have also launched two perpetual fundraisers...one for magazines and another that benefits the Diamonds when you shop at any of over 680 online sites (e.g., buy.com, overstock.com, QVC, homedepot.com, etc.). More info at http://www.lymandiamonds.com
